Camilla Rivano’s winning touch: from fencing to the challenges of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026
A former member of Italian National Fencing Team, Camilla Rivano won three Under-20 World Cup titles and an Under-20 World Championship, bringing the same determination and discipline that made her a champion to the world of major sporting events. Today, she works with Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 while pursuing the Executive Master in Business of Events at SDA Bocconi School of Management, combining hands-on experience with advanced academic training.
In this interview, Camilla reflects on her journey from competitive sport to a career in event management, sharing how the Dompé Foundation scholarship opened new professional horizons.
What makes the Executive Master in Business of Events innovative?
The Executive Master in Business of Events is a very innovative program because it takes place in six strategic cities: Milan, Paris, Riyadh, Lausanne, Rome, and again Milan. Having the opportunity to travel, meet pioneers in the world of events, and discover what these cities have to offer makes the Master a unique opportunity to combine theory and practice and to build an important network for someone like me who wants to continue growing in the events business.

Tell us about your experience with Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026
I currently work for Fondazione Milano Cortina and the Master is allowing me to expand both my knowledge and my passion for events. As for my position at the Milano Cortina Foundation, it started a bit like a game: I tried to enter the world of sports events. As a former athlete, a fencer on the Italian National Team, it was both a personal interest and a goal for me to work for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Once I joined, I breathed the Olympic atmosphere I had always dreamed of as an athlete.
What achievement are you most proud of?
In 2010 I joined the Italian National Fencing Team and was therefore able to compete in World Cups, World Championships, and European Championships in the Under-20 categories and later in the Senior circuit. Winning three Under-20 World Cups and one Under-20 World Championship are the achievements I am most proud of in my career. It was also very important for me to reach the top twelve in the world in the Senior women’s foil category.

What does receiving the scholarship from the Dompé Foundation mean to you?
The Dompé Foundation scholarship allowed me to access and attend this Master’s program. It opened the doors to a transformative world that I previously knew only in part, but that today I understand much more deeply. I am truly grateful for this great opportunity and for having been selected.
