A documentary weaving images and memories from our Archive

In the 1930s, Franco Dompé, then a young student of Chemistry and Pharmacy, discovered bobsleigh and went on to become a pioneer of a sport still largely unknown in Italy. A serious accident during a run marked a turning point in his life: from pain emerged an insight that would shape both his personal journey and his future in the pharmaceutical industry.

Drawing on historical materials from the Dompé Foundation Archive, this short film retraces that journey and the enduring connection between Dompé, bobsleigh, and Cortina d’Ampezzo — home of the 1956 Winter Games, the first Winter Olympics ever hosted in Italy, where Dompé Farmaceutici was a partner.

More than a historical account, the film reflects on a long-standing bond between enterprise, sport, and culture, linking past and present through archival images and memories.

This project is part of the Cultural Olympiad of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 and was created in collaboration with Bob Club Cortina, Fondazione Cortina, and the Municipality of Cortina.
