In 1955, Dompé's magazine Bellezza d'Italia was published for the first time with a horizontal rather than vertical layout, which was innovative for the time. As the letter to readers made clear, "the various reasons for the transformation are summed up above all in a greater adherence to visual reality. Bellezza d'Italia does not only mean journalism, but above all aesthetics, aesthetics very often within the framework of nature. Through our eyes, nature offers us more horizontal than vertical views" (1955).
