Dompé Historical Archive: diving into Italy's pharmaceutical history

Founded in 2020 following the re-arrangement and digitization of thousands of sources, the Dompé Historical Archive aims to preserve and promote awareness about the entrepreneurial journey of the Dompé family. This journey began in 1890, when they first entered the pharmaceutical business. Thanks to its rich and diverse collection, the Archive enables us not only to delve into the historical roots of Dompé farmaceutici, but also to explore the evolution of Italy’s pharmaceutical industry from the second half of the 19th century to the 1970s.

Our Roots

The Dompé Historical Archive uncovers the entrepreneurial journey of a family that has always been driven by a desire to be ahead of its time. It all begins with Onorato Dompé, who opens an innovative production lab in Milan in 1890.  In the early 1950s, his son Franco commissions the creation of state-of-the-art machinery for drug production in vials and starts producing drugs on an industrial scale. The business continues to evolve with Franco’s son, Sergio Dompé, who joins Dompé farmaceutici in the 1970s. He’s the one driving the company forward into biotechnology, the new frontier of the pharmaceutical industry.

Bellezza D'Italia: The magazine for physicians launched by Franco Dompé

Founded in 1947 by Franco Dompé, Bellezza d'Italia is a magazine for doctors which aims not only to entertain readers with articles on travel, art, fashion, and sports, but also to raise awareness about the company's drugs through high-impact advertisements. These are often curated by the visionary designer Franco Grignani, who leads the magazine's creative direction for several years.

A unique collection of documents

Our rich and diverse collection includes historical documents, letters, photographs, advertising campaigns, magazines, films, memorabilia, and much more.
